Did you know April is National Volunteer Month? There’s no better time to get involved in our community.

Whether you’re an animal lover, an artsy type, a natural mentor, or a literature enthusiast — there’s a nearby volunteer opportunity for you.
    • Boys and Girls Clubs of Indianapolis | Make a difference in a child’s life by coaching a sport, tutoring, or teaching a new skill to one of the many young members of the club.
    • 500 Festival | The 500 Festival relies on thousands of volunteers each year and has opportunities for Indy residents to distribute snacks, greet spectators, and staff various events.
    • Friends of Indianapolis Dogs Outside (FIDO) | Drive down alleys to find dogs in need, mix food for the pantry, or help fundraise for the outdoor pups around town.
    • Keep Indianapolis Beautiful | Pitch in to pick up trash in neighborhoods around the city or join a group of volunteers planting trees.
    • Second Helpings | Whether you’d like to chop produce, answer phones, deliver meals, or teach students, there are ample opportunities to help.

    The Wrap

I’ve personally volunteered for Gleaners Food Bank, loading food into cars at the food bank drive-thru + doing laundry and dishes at Indianapolis Animal Care Services. I think volunteering with the 500 Festival would be a great way to get in on all the May action.
