In just a couple days, the torch will be blazing, the crowds will be cheering, and the 2026 Winter Olympic Games will be officially underway in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
If you want to try your hand at some of the sports on show during the Games, here are a few places around Indy where you can learn to figure-skate, curl, and play hockey.
Figure-skating
Indy Fuel Tank | Bring your own skates for lessons here, which range from $15 per hour to $500 for 59 sessions.
Winter Club of Indianapolis | This 80-year-old club offers everything from the U.S. Figure Skating’s Aspire program to Theatre on Ice performances.
Curling
Circle City Curling Club | Get expert tips + tutorials without the price tag at one of this group’s open houses. If you want to commit further, you can register for paid two-hour classes or four-week clinics.
Bier Brewery Noblesville | Grab a pint and a basket of sticky wings before heading out to the garden for open curling play.

Concert
This news sparked joy for us: Mt. Joy is returning to Everwise Amphitheater on Tuesday, Sept. 15. Tickets go on sale Thursday, Feb. 5 at 10 a.m. (WTHR)
Seasonal
Stop and smell the orchids. For the first time since 2021, an explosion of orchids will return to Newfields from Friday, Feb. 13 through Sunday, March 15. Four greenhouse classes are also sprouting up; get tickets before they sell out.
Shop
To us, shopping local always feels like a reward in and of itself. But if you want even more bang for your buck, Beech Grove’s “For The Love of Main” initiative offers shoppers who support small businesses a chance to win a $200 gift basket. See participating locations. (Mirror Indy)
Pets
After last week’s weather severely curbed adoptions, IACS says its kennels are at critical capacity. Consider this your sign to bring home Punky Brewster or Nova. (WTHR)
Hoosier
Congrats to Lawrence Central’s Lola Lampley, the only Indiana student to be selected for the 2026 McDonald’s All American Games. An elite group of 48 players will take the court when the basketball tournament tips off on Tuesday, March 31 in Glendale, Arizona. (WTHR)
