In just a few days, the torch will be blazing, the crowds will be cheering, and the 2026 Winter Olympic Games will be officially underway in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
If you want to try your hand at some of the sports on show during the Games, here are a few places around Indy where you can learn to figure-skate, curl, and play hockey.
Figure-skating
Pro tip: All of these venues also offer hockey programming.
Carmel Ice Skadium | Learn to skate year round with four- to six-week courses at a variety of skill levels and ages, all taught by professional figure skaters. The staff also offers private lessons.
Indy Fuel Tank | Bring your own skates for lessons here, which range from $15 per hour to $500 for 59 sessions.
Winter Club of Indianapolis | This 80-year-old club, based at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, offers everything from the U.S. Figure Skating’s Aspire program to club sessions to Theatre on Ice performances.
Perry Park | Want to do some casual skating, no lessons needed? This park is home to Indy’s only indoor ice rink from September through April, with public skating, freestyle hours, and more. Check the schedule.
Curling
Circle City Curling Club | Get expert tips + tutorials without the price tag at one of this group’s open houses. If you want to commit further, you can register for paid two-hour classes or four-week clinics.
Circle City Athletics | Register solo or with a group of friends to get placed on a team in this new social league, which plays on the rink at Holliday Park.
Bier Brewery Noblesville | Grab a pint and a basket of the brewery’s signature Asian sticky wings before heading out to the garden for open curling play.
Ice hockey
Indianapolis Youth Hockey | Have a little one who wants to learn the sport? Kids between the ages of 4 and 17 can practice essential skills in a station-based format, rotating between games, skating drills, and scrimmages. Lessons are located at Indy Fuel Tank and Carmel Ice Skadium.
TPH Indy Rinks | Learn skating, passing, stick-handling, and teamwork with lessons from this group, which offers both youth and adult programming at various locations including Pop Weaver Youth Pavilion, Corteva Coliseum, and Perry Park.
