Did you know — There was a 27% increase in women-owned businesses between 2019 + 2020, according to the US Small Business Administration . That’s just one reason why Maven Space co-founder and CEO Leslie Bailey wanted to create a workspace by and for women. (You may be familiar with her local lifestyle resource, Indy Maven .)

What we tried

Being on an editorial team of women who work remotely, I (City Editor Nicole here 👋) wanted to get a change of scenery + check out this space — which is officially open this week.

I booked a tour of Maven Space, which includes a free stay for the day. After the tour, I set up shop at a cozy table and worked there the rest of the day. Pro tip: There’s even a soundproof “phone booth” perfect for Zoom calls.

What not to miss

Maven Space has all the necessities for a coworking space:

  • Private meeting + conference rooms
  • Event space
  • Cafe + a coffee and wine bar
  • Members-only fitness + wellness center
  • Mother’s breastfeeding room presented by The Milk Bank
  • Podcast studio

A couple of other noteworthy pieces are the lending library in partnership with Wild Geese Bookshop + a rotating gallery wall highlighting the works of local artists, in partnership with GANGGANG .
