We’re now less than a year out from Solar Eclipse Weekend — an event marking the last chance to see a total solar eclipse in the US until 2044 + the last chance in Indy until 2153.
Outside of Texas, Indy will be the largest city with a direct hit in the path of a total eclipse on April 8, 2024 — NASA has even agreed to broadcast the event live from the Speedway with experts on-hand to answer questions.
Getting into the celestial spirit already? More than 100 events are being planned in advance so Hoosiers + an expected influx of over one million visitors can take full advantage of the once-in-a-lifetime event.
Here are a few events
you can start looking forward to:
- The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is throwing a viewing celebration.
- Newfields will have a special art exhibit.
- White River State Park will be hosting a food truck festival.
- The Children’s Museum is putting together an “Eclipse Extravaganza.”
- The IMAX Theatre will host a series of space-themed documentary screenings.
- Hotel Tango will have a cosmos-themed drink menu with names like “Let’s Get Astrophysical.”
