If you’ve been by Frederick Douglass Park recently, you’ve probably noticed that the family center is finally starting to take shape in the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood.
We gave you the details about this $20 million project
last summer, but here are the highlights:
- Funding for the 45,000-sqft facility comes from the Circle City Forward initiative.
- It’s taking the place of the old structure at 1616 E. 25th St.
- It will include a community hall, exercise studio, demo kitchen, basketball courts, a food pantry, and an elevated track.
- The plans for this center came together after four public meetings with community feedback.
The completion date is expected to be sometime in October 2023.
