Hey Indy, Nicole + Anna here. Between the two of us, we get the privilege of sharing the news with thousands of readers in Indy, daily — both through our newsletter + social feeds.

We’ve got some new faces at INDYtoday, so you can consider this our official meet-cute.

Meet Nicole 👋

Q: What were the last three things you did in Indy?

A: Got a drink at Bar One Fourteen with my best friend, shopped at Wonderland market at The AMP + went to Winterlights at Newfields with family.

Q: Hit us with your favorite piece of local trivia.

A: Mile Square is bounded by north, south, east + west streets, centered on Monument Circle — which is where the nickname “Circle City” originated.

If you notice, Pennsylvania St. is east of the circle and the state is also east of Indiana geographically. And then Illinois St. is west of the circle, and the state is west of Indiana.

An article I found about The Ralston Plan said, “Indianapolis is blessed with one of the finest city plans in the United States.”

Q: Other than yourself, who would you consider to be the local expert about Indy?

A: My best friend Shay (AKA @CityofShay). She’s a local blogger who focuses on all things local. I go to her when I need new Indy recommendations.

Meet Anna 👋

Q: You can only choose one local restaurant menu to bring with you to a deserted island — which one is it + why?

A: I’ve thought about this a lot + I think I can cheat the system if I say Bluebeard. The Fletcher Place restaurant has a rotating menu, which means I wouldn’t be stuck with the same list of dishes, but have new ones all the time.

Some favorites I’ve had throughout the years are the pork chops, roasted cauliflower + lavender cake. And of course, I always order the charcuterie board and a seasonal drink to start things off right.

Q: You’re taking someone on a date in Indy. Where are you going?

A: I think hikes are a great way to get to know people, so I’d take them to Eagle Creek Park first (weather permitting). We’d sit by the reservoir for a quick snack, which would obviously include a baguette from Amelia’s.

Our last stop would be some family-owned restaurant in the International Marketplace — possibly Homey’s Hot Pot, Taste of Dubai or a place neither of us has tried yet.

Q: Describe Indy’s personality in three words.

A: Boundless, rooted, literary.
