IMAX Indy is only one of 30 theaters in the world presenting Oppenheimer in IMAX 70mm film. The story of American scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer and his role in developing the atomic bomb plays out on one 11-mile long, 600-pound print made up of 260,126 frames in total. Read: This will deliver the smoothest, crispest, highest resolution, and brightest picture possible.

Experience Oppenheimer in IMAX 70mm, the way director Christopher Nolan designed it to be seen, on the largest screen in the state. Bonus: Take home your own Oppenheimer film strip (while supplies last) if you attend a show on Friday, July 28 or Friday, Aug. 4.

IPS lays out new transportation plan for upcoming school year

On Monday, July 31, Indianapolis Public Schools will go back to the classroom — so many of you reading this may be preparing the kids for a new morning routine.

For the past few years, IPS has handed over its bus operations to private company First Student, which operates 200+ bus routes within the school district with more than 250 drivers on staff. However, First Student isn’t the only transportation option.
  • IndyGo will be some high schoolers’ only mode of transportation, with an expected average travel time of 25 minutes. Students will receive an IndyGo MyKey transit pass that will allow them to ride the entire IndyGo fixed-route network free of charge.
  • For children who are the only students in their neighborhood, IPS is launching a fleet of privately owned SUVs and drivers to get kids to and from school.
  • Students who live 1.5 miles or less from their school may be considered walkers.
Today from 6 to 8 p.m., IndyGo is offering a back-to-school night at the Carson Transit Center to provide a reduced fare ID card, free backpack, and training.

From the editor
If you caught yesterday’s newsletter, we gave you our guide to the Indiana State Fair + reader Jordan W. wrote in with this suggestion:

“The best way to get there is on your bicycle! It’s right on the Monon Trail, and there is a Pacers Bikeshare station right on the Monon north of 38th Street. [...] The quickest way in and out, also the cheapest, and doesn’t hurt to burn a couple calories before and after those deep fried oreos.”

I’ve biked to the Indy 500 + a concert at the TCU Amphitheater at White River State Park, and I couldn’t agree more — biking to a big event is the best way to go, if you can.
