Leap Day: How to spend an extra day in Indy

It’s 2024, and we have a special February that only comes around once every four years. That’s right, we’re talking about Leap Day. Instead of the traditional 28 days, we are treated with 29. Since Earth’s trip around the sun isn’t exactly 365 days, we add a leap day to keep our calendars on track.

With this additional day of the year, it might have you wondering what to do with this extra time, so here are some fun — and maybe some outlandish — things to do around the Circle City.
    • Take a stroll among 215,000+ graves at Crown Hill Cemetery — including those of America’s first “Public Enemy No. 1" and the 23rd US president. Looking for more strange things to do? Check out this list.
    • Go on a mural scavenger hunt with our guide.
    • Try a new coffee shop and maybe even spend the day co-working from one for a change of scenery.
    • Use the extra time as an opportunity to give back to the community.
    • Crack open that book you’ve been wanting to read. Here are some of the best places to read a book.
    • Visit a horror-themed cafe in Fountain Square. Here are a few other themed places around Indy if scary isn’t your vibe.
    • In need of some R&R? It might be the perfect time for a self-care day.

    From the editor
Fountain Fletcher and the south side of Indy (Bates-Hendricks, Garfield Park) is my favorite side of town — and these neighborhoods have been growing and thriving lately. We love to see it. I think I’m most excited about a walk-up coffee bar, plus I still need to check out OVA Lofts because it’s space looks stunning.
