Development

Plans are proceeding for a $2 billion residential development in Noblesville near Ruoff Music Center. The project will include 2,422 houses, up to 1,000 apartments, and a commercial district. It’s projected to draw a population of 5,000 people. Learn more about the timeline. (IndyStar)

Announced

Due to skyrocketing costs of chocolate + supplies, Newfangled Confections announced it will be closing operations on Thursday, May 1, including its brands The Best Chocolate in Town and Frittle. You can support by visiting the Fashion Mall store for one final Valentine’s Day treat.

Concert

Dolly Parton’s “Threads: My Songs in Symphony,” a multimedia symphony experience featuring vocalists handpicked by Dolly herself, will hit the Hilbert Circle Theatre Friday, Sept. 19-Saturday, Sept. 20. Sign up for updates — a sale date hasn’t been released yet, which is enough to make you crazy if you let it.

Closing

Bad news for crafters: Joann is closing 533 stores nationwide, including locations at 1361 W. 86th St. and 10030 E. Washington St. The store at 8714 Castle Creek Parkway E. Drive will remain open. If you’re interested in a guide to local craft stores, let us know. (IBJ)
We have stars in our ryes: According to Google Maps, Shapiro’s is one of the top five most-reviewed US delis over the last 20 years. The cafeteria has a 4.5-star rating and 6,000+ reviews. Matzo ball soup this weekend, anyone?

Film

Are you watching “Hope Floats” this weekend? According to recent data from Roku, it’s the most popular romance movie in Indiana. “Moonstruck” tops the chart as the most popular romance film in eight different states. (Axios)

Number

    The Wrap

    INDYtoday: INDY_Shea headshot 2024
Former Disneyland employee here — I’m shocked by how expensive it’s become to visit the Disney parks. If I were to recommend a closer-to-home alternative, my family and I really enjoyed visiting Dollywood last summer. It’s got great themeing, exciting shows, thrilling rides for every age, shockingly good food — and it’s just a six-hour drive from Indy.
