Westfield, phone home. This week the city approved a massive $1.2 billion plan for Grand Universe, a new four-district development centered on space + science education.

Here’s a lightspeed look at what could be included in the 66-acre campus:

  • Grand Universe District: The 170,000-sqft Grand Universe Center for Science and Space Exploration (which will include a planetarium), The Johnson Hagerman Center for Science and Space Exploration, and a STEM pavilion with events and amenities
  • Resort District: A hotel for visitors
  • Sports Entertainment District: Sports, arts, and entertainment facilities, outdoor plazas, and a park with paths connecting to the Monon Trail
  • Town Center District: Commercial and mixed-use buildings with retail space, office space, and high-density multifamily housing

Take a look at a map of the area and dozens of renderings here. No timeline for work has been released yet.
