Here at INDYtoday, we’re all about exploring the city, which includes going a bit outside city limits. Today we’re sharing an area just south of the Circle City that we think is worth the visit.

We’ve rounded up a few new spots to check out in Greenwood + Bargersville.

Eat

Le Croissant French Bakery | 916 E. Main St.

Opened back in January, this bakery is standing out with lines that form well before the shop opens. For owner Pedro Ulloa, it’s a labor of love — grinding in the shop 21 hours a day, even on Sundays + Mondays when it’s closed.

Our Table American Bistro | 5080 IN-135, Bargersville

A local husband + wife had the dream of opening a restaurant to serve their community — and they’re making that dream a reality with an atmosphere that feels like home while also providing a sophisticated dining experience. You can enjoy the evolving menu featuring everything from classics like lasagna and a bistro burger to artisan flatbreads, a spicy shrimp bucatini, and sauteed walleye almondine.

Drink

SmockTown Brewery | 223 W. Main St.

Did you know that Greenwood was first known as Smocktown , in honor of brothers and early settlers John B. and Isaac Smock? To honor the city’s roots, two brothers opened a brewery under that name. Perfect for the nice weather we have in store, you can enjoy a brew on its upstairs deck + beer garden.

Play

Greenwood Fieldhouse | 411 S. Madison Ave.

We’ve mentioned it before , but we’ll mention it again. The new 65,000 sqft recreational facility is now open at the site of the former Greenwood Middle School. The fieldhouse has everything from an elevated indoor running + walking track, two multi-purpose turf fields, basketball/volleyball courts, and several indoor pickleball courts. Day passes and punch cards are available to check it out .
