Lunar New Year is upon us, Indy. 🏮

Though its official dates vary across different Asian cultures, the Lunar New Year is a celebration of the start of spring and a new year on the lunisolar calendar.

2023 is the Year of the Rabbit (or the Year of the Cat in Vietnam). In Chinese culture, the Year of the Rabbit symbolizes longevity, peace, and prosperity — this year is predicted to be a year of hope.

Here are some ways to tap into this year’s energy and make the most of the Year of the Rabbit:

  • The rabbit is know for its ability to create harmonious relationships, so this year focus on building strong connections with the close people in your life. We recommend taking a loved one to connect over a cup of coffee at Mansion Society or MOTW Coffee & Pastries.
  • Look at longevity as it relates to your career. This year is a good time to focus on professional development and advancement, so take advantage of networking opportunities like joining Young Professionals of Central Indiana or check out Indy Chamber for business resources.
  • This year is a great time to take up a new hobby or creative outlet that interests you, like maybe a pottery class at Yellow Door Ceramics Studio, because the rabbit is also associated with creativity and artistic talents.
  • Take the theme of peace and focus on taking care of yourself this year. Try Sauna Social to experience the health benefits of using a sauna or try a sound bath at Epicenter-Indy on Friday, Jan. 27 from 7-8 p.m.
