The sun is shining, spring cleaning is underway, and no matter your aesthetic — the siren call of local estate sales is beckoning.

Here’s how you can discover the unique find of your dreams at an estate sale near you.

Getting started

First, check out Estatesales.net or Estalesales.org early in the week to bookmark sales of interest. Most start on Wednesday or Thursday, with many sales continuing through the weekend. With this mobile app, you can hit directions on your sale of choice, and the app will load the correct address into your phone’s maps program.

As you plan your adventure, think of items that might catch your eye, from vintage Pyrex to a Stephen King first edition print to barely-used items like workout equipment. Depending on the sale, you may find pieces of the Circle City’s past — or even an entire house for sale.

Pro tips

Exact sale addresses aren’t usually released until the day before the event. But to help you plan ahead, the zip code will be listed when the sale is announced.

Before you go, make sure you also check the accepted payment methods for each listing so you can come prepared with cash if needed.
