We asked and you delivered, Hoosiers. After sharing some of Indy’s plans for its vacant Marsh locations, we offered up an opportunity for INDYtoday readers to brainstorm about what they would like to see move in. And boy, is our cart full of thoughtful nuggets.

Indoor playgrounds

The overwhelming consensus among Indy residents was to transform the grocery stores into indoor playgrounds for kids. Some suggested modeling them after KidCity or Skyzone and including a coffee shop for parents.

More gyms

This survey has taught us that Hoosiers love VASA Fitness and Planet Fitness . There were several votes for each, especially in the Greenwood, Bargersville, Whiteland, and Franklin areas.

Activity venues

There was a healthy mix of bowling alleys, pickleball courts, roller skating rinks, and indoor soccer suggestions, and one of you said an indoor dog park would be helpful to exercise those high energy dogs.

A place for food

While a good number of you shouted out more Trader Joe’s , there were some other great food-related suggestions, as well. Between a test kitchen, a food hall, and another Saraga location, we vote for sticking with something local.

Anna is based in Indianapolis, IN and worked in government communications for five years before joining 6AM City to help launch INDYtoday. When she’s not writing about the Circle City from a local coffee shop, you can find her taking long walks with her dog Babs + reading from her hammock and baking pies from scratch.
