Today’s a big day for INDYtoday: It’s our third birthday.

In the last three years, we City Editors have had the pleasure of sending you hundreds of newsletters chock full of feel-good, hyperlocal news. We’ve shown up to dozens of community events, we’ve spent countless hours responding to your questions, and we’ve had some good laughs at your witty Instagram comments.

But in case you haven’t had a chance to meet the writers behind the curtain, here are a couple things to know about City Editors Nicole and Shea.

Q: What’s your favorite new restaurant that’s opened in the last year?

  • Nicole: I’ve already been to Parkside Public House twice since it opened in Garfield Park last month, so I have to say that’s my favorite new business I’ve tried.
  • Shea: I’m a big sweets girly, and I’ve fallen in love with the baked goods at Yafa Golden Coffee. I’m also excited for Chapter Book Lounge to open near me in a couple weeks.

Q: What’s your favorite story you’ve written for INDYtoday?

  • Nicole: I’ve written a lot of stories over the last three years, so it’s hard to remember them all — so I’ll go with a recent favorite. I have to say the National Dog Day piece asking for readers to choose our adventure was such a fun one. It’s not every day I get to include my best friend in my INDYtoday content.
  • Shea: My “Where to shop for ‘The Eras Tour’" story was a real passion project for me. I spent weeks trying to find specific pieces + shops that perfectly fit the vibe of each era, and then crammed as many song lyrics as I could into each sentence.

Thanks to all our readers for helping us reach three years — we couldn’t have done it without you.
