An introvert’s guide to Indy

What’s there to do in Indianapolis when you’re an introvert? We’ve cooked up a few ways you can get out on the town while staying in your comfort zone.

Silent Book Club Indy meetups take place at vibey spots like Plat 99 at The Alexander or on the lawn of the Propylaeum.

Being an introvert is a tough gig. If you need to hear and see sounds of life to get through your day, but want to keep the talking to a minimum, this introvert’s guide to Indy is for you. Your comfort zone is safe with us.

Silent book clubs

Reading is fundamental — but so is your quiet time. Silent Book Club Indy meets monthly, with 30 minutes of silent reading followed by an hour during which you can stay nose-in-book or opt to socialize instead. Just bring whatever you’re currently reading, plus a way to pay for snacks or drinks if you want to treat yourself.

Tabletop gaming bars

A lot of introverts don’t like bars (raises hand) — but if tabletop gaming is involved, it’s a different story. If you prefer a side of Magic the Gathering with your drink, head to Elf ‘N Moon for gaming galore. You can bring your own meal or purchase snacks and drinks from the store.

Run clubs

Got a need for speed? Join a run club to stay active with like-minded locals. Socializing is optional (we’ll be too busy huffing and puffing to chat), but if you decide to stick around after your workout, many clubs end the evening at a restaurant or bar to refuel and make new connections.

Dog parks

One of the most natural ways to meet other people is by letting your dog do all the barking. If we had to choose a favorite dog park in Indy, it might be Metazoabecause socializing is always easier with a beer in hand.

Did we miss an introvert’s dream spot or hobby? Don’t be offended by us saying this, but don’t be shysend us an email.
