For millennia, people have categorized the world’s wonders into groups of seven. Ancient Greek author and geographer Herodotus is credited with being at the forefront of the trend more than 2,400 years ago. There have been modern lists, “new wonders,” undersea destinations, and the inclusion of more expansive phenomena like the Northern Lights or polar ice caps.

So we started thinking about making a list specifically for the Circle City, which begs the question “what would the Seven Wonders of Indy be?”

Does The Slippery Noodle Inn, which has been in business for a whopping 175 years, make the cut? What about “Funky Bones” or the dinosaurs breaking out of The Children’s Museum? Soldiers and Sailors Monument is pretty iconic… but so is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Conner Prairie hot air balloon is a showstopper, at least when it’s in the air.
