We recently got a sneak peek of “Emerging Current,” the 2025 Eiteljorg Contemporary Art Fellowship exhibition, open now through Feb. 22, 2026 — and it’s safe to say we’re still thinking about the work we saw.

Since 1999, the Fellowship has been spotlighting groundbreaking contemporary Native American or First Nations artists whose work exemplifies the span of multimedia art forms, and this year’s cohort is no exception.

What we experienced

Wandering through the galleries, we viewed bold, immersive pieces by five artists, each pushing beyond expectations with modern perspectives of what Native art is and can be. Expect work from:

  • John Feodorov
  • Erin Ggaadimits Ivalu Gingrich
  • Maria Hupfield
  • Cannupa Hanska Luger
  • Invited artist Jean LaMarr

Also worth noting: each artist has work joining the museum’s permanent collection, meaning their voices will continue to resonate long after the exhibit closes.

Trust us, you’ll want to see this one in person. Start planning your visit (and get a first look below).
