If you spend any time on Reddit, then you already know: Naptown is anything but sleepy. The subreddit r/indianapolis is one of our favorite places to mine for story ideas, as well as to catch up on the latest city gossip.
In the interest of contributing to the conversations, let’s answer some of the hottest questions that have been posted recently.
u/BananaBoatExpress asked: Where can I find red bean mochi in the greater Indianapolis area?
Like our fellow Reddit users, we only know of one restaurant that sells fresh red bean mochi — Cafe Korea. If you’re willing to get a little adventurous, you can also try patbingsu (Korean shaved ice with red beans) at Sisters. But if all else fails, you can get pretty decent refrigerated or frozen red bean mochi packs at Saraga or One World Market.
u/CloverThyme wondered: Where do y’all like to go for day trips?
We love a good day trip at INDYtoday. Fort Wayne always makes a pretty easy escape; hit Promenade Park for some outdoor time in the heart of the city, then get over to Bravas for some of the best smashburgers + tapas in town.
When fall hits, make sure you save a weekend to visit Brown County. Between the jaw-dropping fall foliage and quaint small-town shops in Nashville, you’ll feel like you’re on the set of “Gilmore Girls.”
u/Minejack777 posited: Any game/card shop recommendations in Indianapolis?
Depending on your specific interests, Indy’s got a whole host of game shops that can meet your needs. City Editor Shea’s favorite is Moonshot, which has amazing weekly Magic: The Gathering card deals, as well as an impressive inventory of both brand new indie games and beloved classics.
u/teavol inquired: Where can I find a place within a 3-4 hour drive that has a nice resort style pool?
In this weather, we can relate. As several other users said, French Lick Springs Hotel and West Baden Springs Hotel both have sparkling pools with cafe and bar offerings — although West Baden’s is exclusive to guests.
If you’re looking for a pool to utilize just for the day, check out Resort Pass, which helps you book amenities at nearby hotels without needing to purchase an overnight stay. Or if you prefer a completely private swimming experience, Swimply features home pools you can rent by the hour — some of which are even more luxurious than a typical resort.
