Treat yourself to an Indy-inspired Girl Scout cookie

The Hoosier State has plenty of signature dishes; what if we added custom Girl Scout cookies to the fray?

Three boxes of Girl Scouts "exploremores" cookies are displayed outdoors on a stone surface with a lush green forest background. The packaging features a photo of smiling children lying on the grass beside stacks of chocolate cookies. The scene evokes a feeling of adventure and playfulness.

You’ll be able to buy boxes of this new flavor and your beloved favorites through April.

Wake up and smell the flour (and sugar). Girl Scout Cookie season is upon us — and our local council, the Girl Scouts of Central Indiana, are slinging sweet treats around town.

One question: After the Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs are all gone, what will we eat? In that disastrous scenario, we’d love to see these Indy-inspired cookie ideas come to life:

  • When people think of Indiana, they think of corn — and if Crumbl has taught us anything, it’s that corn belongs in cookies. We’d love to see the Scouts create a sweet corn sandwich cookie with a honey butter filling.
  • Next, we’d adapt sugar cream pie (Indiana’s unofficial pie) into a delicious cookie confection. Think buttery, flaky shortbread with a sugary custard glaze.
  • Our final invention is the most adventurous of all: A pork tenderloin cookie. Fear not, it won’t actually feature meat; instead, we think two soft, vanilla-flavored buns with an oversized, brown sugar-coated, sweet corn patty in the middle would be the perfect substitute.
