The second largest renovation in the history of the NBA is now open — just in time for a new Pacers season.
To help you prepare for the first home game of the season (Wed., Oct. 19), we’re sharing what you need to know about the $360 million fieldhouse project, the players + the new artwork installations.
The fieldhouse
Phase III renovations were completed on Gainbridge just last week, and it’s already been christened with a performance by Post Malone on Sunday.
Although Gainbridge is officially ready for visitors again, it’s still undergoing a few more renovations before it’s complete.
The standing room-only sky bar should be finished by November or December of this year and the Bicentennial Unity Plaza will be completed April or May of next year.
Not unlike a lot of Good Bones renovations, the fieldhouse lobby area now has an open concept, meaning there’s plenty of space to walk around and watch the game at the same time.
The Pacers
The first time you’ll be able to hear the squeak of Pacers’ sneakers at home is Wed., Oct. 12, as part of preseason. Can’t wait that long? Tomorrow (Wed., Oct. 5), the Pacers are taking on the Charlotte Hornets at their first preseason away game.
Looking to get a jump shot at the season? This Sunday (Oct. 9), Gainbridge is hosting FanJam, a free event that gives fans the first opportunity to see the team in a scrimmage setting. Reserve your ticket.
Pro tip: the first 5,000 fans will get a free t-shirt + food vouchers.
Single-game tickets are now available, as well as season tickets.
The art
Not only will there be public artwork in the plaza when it’s completed, there’s also a plan to incorporate Hoosier artists throughout the building.
Each level of the fieldhouse will feature specific narratives, including “Pacers 2000 Season,” “Fever 2012 Run” + “Crispus Attucks and The Dust Bowl.” You can learn more about each artist on Gainbridge’s website.
