There may or may not be a snowstorm afoot. We wouldn’t blame you if you felt like leaving Indy for a bit. But if you visit one of these five spots, you might just feel like you’ve left without ever getting on a plane.

📍 Garfield Park Conservatory, 2505 Conservatory Dr.

If you’re missing the smell of fresh flowers this winter, a visit to the conservatory might be in order. It definitely won’t seem like winter when you step inside and feel the warm air hit you and hear the sound of trickling waterfalls.

📍 Saraga International Grocery, 2308 E. Stop 11 Rd. + 3605 Commercial Dr.

With two locations in Indy, Saraga provides the community with every type of fresh fruit + veggie you can imagine. The international selection of snacks and staples will have you wandering the aisles for hours.

📍 Museum of Psychophonics, 1043 Virginia Ave.

Psychophonics” is a branch of psychology dealing with the relationship between physical stimuli + mental phenomena. You’ve probably never heard of this 100 sqft museum, as it’s tucked away inside the Murphy Arts Center in Fountain Square. It’s a treasure trove of all things weird + supernatural, including a stage prop from a funk show in the 70s called the “Baby Mothership.”

📍 Inferno Room, 902 Virginia Ave.

This tiki bar is full of tropical food, including spam sliders, poke bowls, and “longevity noodles.

Pro tip: Take a look around the warmly-lit eatery because it has one of the largest collections of Papua New Guinea art outside of a museum.

📍 Global Village Welcome Center, 4233 Lafayette Rd.

It’s probably obvious, but you’ll find lots to explore at the Global Village to temporarily take you out of Indy. Right now, it’s hosting the World Arts Expo with work from 30 international + local artists on display until Sun., March 19.
